album sales in the United States increased from 3% in 2011 according to a report. That may seem a slight growth, but it's actually the first time album sales have increased since 2004. Nielsen SoundScan said Adele album "21" sold 5.8 million copies, and total sales amounted to 458 million albums of the year. Make no mistake, however, CD sales are still on the decline. Sales of full digital albums rose 20% to 103 million units, but the CD sales by 6% to 225 million units. Nielsen senior vice president of analytics Dave Bakula said the addition of Google's music store in the Android Market also helped as a catalyst for digital music sales. Said "It shows there is still much growth potential in the digital" Bakula. "This is something that I do not see, falling down."
